Celebrating our 6th Anniversary today!

Today marks the 6th anniversary of launching Moncur Consulting. It doesn’t feel like it’s been that long until I consider that my youngest was merely a 12-year-old 7th grader back then, and now he’s getting ready to move to the East Coast for college.

Amazing to think that one third of his life was shaped by having an entrepreneur for a mom, with all its successes and challenges and rush projects and down time. I hope it has inspired him to follow his dreams. And I am incredibly grateful for having had the opportunity to balance running my business and raising my kids, with the flexibility to adjust my working hours to their schedules, so I could attend school events and chaperone out-of-town sailing regattas.

In that vein, our availability and capacity will be somewhat limited this August, as I chaperone one last youth regatta in San Francisco and then move my son into his dorm in Rhode Island.

Our favorite projects are purpose-driven initiatives where we can contribute to meaningful change

A short history of our translation, transcreation, and localization work

We started in 2019 by localizing corporate communications and lab testing materials for global markets, both for leading Minnesota companies.

In 2020, 90% of our work turned to translating COVID-related messaging at lightning speeds to help ethnic communities in the US stay healthy and informed with every new development.

Since then, we’ve touched a wide variety of verticals, such as cultural/global name & logo evaluations, legal, finance, healthcare, public health, animal health, agriculture, conservation and animal welfare, political campaigns, consumer research, consumer products, e-commerce, aerospace, automotive, machinery, technology, IT, franchising, tariffs, education, sailing, and pet toys. We have touched almost all marketing media, incl. brochures, fliers, posters, social media images, emails, websites, eBooks, and videos with closed captions or in-language supers and voice-overs.

Making a difference

While the amount of projects we handled year-over-year decreased for the first time ever, we believe this was due in large part to economic uncertainty and funding cuts in the first quarter of 2025 and most clients appear to have found their groove again since then, as noted with an uptick of work in the 2nd quarter. Especially in light of today’s local and global challenges, our favorite projects are purpose-driven initiatives where we can contribute to meaningful change with impactful content for audiences with limited English proficiency, whether here or abroad.
